BARBARA ANN HOCKENBERRY (nee Chobody) passed away Monday, August 20, at her home. She was born July 4, 1935 in Somerset, PA and lived the past 28 years in Northfield Center after relocating from Macedonia. She graduated in 1953 from Shannock Valley High School, Yatesboro, PA where she was a class officer, participated in theatrical productions, and was a chorus member and cheerleader. Barbara married William R. Hockenberry, Jr., on October 15, 1955 at St. Mary's Church, Elyria. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Barbara was an avid homemaker who enjoyed gardening, home decorating, reading and jigsaw puzzles. Music was a great joy to her as was spending time with loved ones at family gatherings. She sang in the church choirs of St. Gabriel's Mission, NuMine, PA and Our Lady of Guadalupe in Macedonia. In addition to her beloved husband of almost 57 years, Barbara is survived by sons William R. Hockenberry, III of Randolph, Robert Hockenberry of Euless, TX and Joseph Hockenberry of Northfield Center; grandson Robert Hockenberry Jr., of Euless, TX; three brothers: Joseph (Fran) Chobody of Elyria, John Chobody and James Chobody, both of Elyria; four sisters Mary (Charles) Keating of Weston, CT, Cecelia Butdorf of Vermilion and Annette Chobody and Helene Chobody, both of Elyria; brother-in-law Richard Pamley of Cuyahoga Falls and numerous nieces and nephews. Barbara was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, John and Mary (Hercula) Kormos; paternal grandparents, Joseph and Elizabeth (Zubricki) Chobody; her parents, Joseph and Anna (Kormos) Chobody; sisters JoAnn Chobody and Betty J. Pamley; and daughter-in-law, Debra Hockenberry. There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Friday August 24, 2012 at St. Barnabas Catholic Church 9451 Brandywine Rd., Northfield Center, OH with Father Ralph Wiatrowski celebrating. (EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH). In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve.
